Interlude House

Interlude House

Interlude House is envisioned as a harmonious retreat, seamlessly blending modern design with natural surroundings to create an oasis of tranquility and contemplation within a large landscaped garden.

The core concept revolves around creating spaces that act as interludes in daily life – moments of pause, reflection, and connection with the environment, mirroring the pauses we seek in our bustling lives. This house celebrates the surrounding landscape, integrating architecture and interior with its environment.

The design of Interlude House is meticulously crafted to embrace its natural context. Emphasizing the seamless transition between indoor and outdoor spaces, the architecture blurs the boundaries between the built environment and the surrounding landscape. Expansive windows invite nature indoors, framing panoramic views and bathing the interiors in natural light, while maximizing visual connections with the serene surroundings.

The spatial layout of Interlude House is thoughtfully curated to promote harmony and connectivity. The communal areas, including the living, dining, and kitchen spaces, are strategically oriented to capture expansive views of the landscape, fostering a sense of openness and connection with nature. Meanwhile, private zones, such as the bedrooms, are nestled within intimate landscaped areas, providing retreats for relaxation and contemplation.

Traditional elements inspired by the regional architecture of western India are integrated into the design of Interlude House. The linear form of the single-floor home is accentuated by two granite-clad building masses that slide out from the main structure, creating a sense of horizontality that harmonizes with the surrounding landscape. Deep verandahs, modern interpretation of traditional architecture, offer protection from the elements while providing shaded outdoor spaces for leisure and recreation.

Within the interiors of Interlude House, a minimalist aesthetic prevails, prioritizing functionality and natural materials to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. Clean lines, uncluttered spaces, and a neutral color palette cultivate a sense of calm and clarity, encouraging inhabitants to focus on moments of stillness and connection with their surroundings.

In essence, Interlude House is more than just a dwelling – it is a sanctuary for mindful living, where architecture and nature coalesce to elevate well-being. Rooted in the belief that spaces can inspire and rejuvenate, it offers a retreat from the hustle and bustle of everyday life, inviting inhabitants to pause, reflect, and find solace amidst the enduring beauty of their surroundings.
