Set within a dense urban neighborhood, this courtyard house seeks to rediscover the intimacy and spatial depth of traditional homes built around open-to-sky courts. The residence turns inward, forming a calm world of its own — a series of spaces that revolve around nature rather than the city beyond its walls.
Designed as a modern courtyard residence, it captures the essence of light, shadow, breeze, and changing seasons, transforming everyday moments into quiet experiences of connection.

Visual Highlights
The home is organized as a multi-court house, with five distinct landscaped courts shaping its spatial rhythm. Each court defines a unique atmosphere — from the grand formal entry court with tall trees to the more secluded family courts enclosed by verandahs and gardens. Subtle level changes and carefully aligned axes create a layered journey through the house, where built and unbuilt spaces constantly overlap.
Here, architecture mediates between man and nature rather than separating them, using scale and proportion to balance openness with enclosure.
While the house isolates itself from its dense surroundings, it remains porous to light, air, and the landscape within. Deep verandahs, double-height galleries, and transparent boundaries establish strong indoor-outdoor connectivity, allowing the courts to become extensions of the living spaces.
Family and dining areas open to a lily-filled water body and shaded courts, while bedrooms and lounges on the upper floor connect to private terraces that frame the sky and trees. These landscaped private courts bring natural light and ventilation to every room, blurring distinctions between interior and exterior.
Double-height galleries, hanging staircases, and bifurcated wings create dynamic circulation while maintaining privacy. Bedrooms, lounges, and the master suite open to courts and terraces, reinforcing the nature-connected living experience. Kitchen gardens, family dining nooks, and versatile outdoor terraces enhance functionality and adaptability for modern family life.
Materiality and Experience
Natural materials — stone, wood, and water — give the house a tactile, earthy character. A hanging metal staircase and sculptural trees mark pivotal spaces, while verandahs and terraces create thresholds where architecture meets the garden. The entertainment and pool area is carved from the ground, designed to feel part of the terrain itself, encouraging social life to unfold within nature’s embrace.
Through a sequence of interlinked courts and layered volumes, this courtyard house achieves a measured balance of privacy, openness, and environmental sensitivity. The design demonstrates how nature-connected living can emerge from simple architectural principles — orientation, proportion, and light — creating a home that feels both grounded and timeless.
