Ken Burns Effect

Located in the fastest growing areas of western Ahmedabad, this commercial development houses retail spaces on first three floors, followed by parking on 4th & 5th floor and office spaces on 17 floors above.

The form is a resultant of extruding the permissible building footprint to maximum height as per revised building regulations. The excess mass is then carved out to bring built-up area within permissible limit in a way that is compatible with the programmatic requirements, immediate context and climate.

A modular envelop is derived from sun angle and intensity to minimize heat gain in internal spaces. This approach translates to variable facades on all four sides and imparts a distinct character to the form.

The result of this process is a vibrant and climate responsive building with a strong visual character.
